There are so many great things to do in the summer; swimming, hiking, bike riding, taking family vacations, eating ice cream…it seems like you should be able to do just about anything you want with your free time, both kids and adults alike.
A lot of summer activity is outside, and you can get into great shape with all the sports. Even family vacations can be great opportunities for getting into shape; though you usually eat more on the road, you also tend to walk far more than you would at home. And if you’re lucky enough to go on a cruise, there are tons of activities to help you work off those midnight buffets.
Of course, as adults we know that actions have consequences, and if doing nothing but eat junk food in front of the television is your idea of a great summer vacation, you may end up a few pounds heavier and feeling not so healthy by the time autumn rolls around.
Kids are the same way; in the summer, weight loss camps would probably not be on the top of any kid’s list of fun things to do, but there are some great summer camps out there, both overnight and day camps, that help kids to learn about nutrition and fitness.
Summer weight loss camps can be as simple as spending a couple hours in the morning at a boot camp, or as complex as going away to a camp for a month. The point is that it’s going to make you feel better, look better, and live better. It’s worth it to give something like that a try, if you’re looking to do something different this year.
