Fat Summer Camps

When you’re a kid, summer is filled with fun things like swimming, running around with your friends, and bike riding.  You’re not stuck in a school, sitting at a desk all day, and you have all day every day in which to play sports and get activity.  It’s not surprising that summer is a great time for kids to burn off some extra weight that a sedentary lifestyle may have led to.

However, as an adult, it’s more difficult to lose weight.  You probably don’t get the whole summer off, and so you really have no way of spending all day involved in physical activities.  You may feel that you’re getting unhealthy and fat; summer camps are long gone and you’re not sure what to do about it.

Summer is usually the time that families take a vacation, so why not make your vacation this year focused on getting fit?  Anywhere you go in the world, there are physical activities that are fun and unusual and will help you to lose some weight and have a great experience with your family.

If you’re headed to a beach resort, the obvious answer is to get out into the ocean with your kids and play with them, rather than laying on the sand and sun tanning.  Try surfing or body boarding.  And swimming in the ocean burns more calories than swimming in a pool.  Rent kayaks for your family and tone up those arms!

If you’re going to a place with a lot of sightseeing, skip the buses and walk!  Walking is a great way to burn off calories.  If it’s a big area, chances are you can rent bikes and pedal around town with your family.  If you want to see the surrounding sites, try taking a hike to wherever you’re going.
