It used to be that kids spent all their free time outside running around and riding their bikes. Summers were filled with swimming and all kinds of outdoor sports. Unfortunately, that isn’t as much the world we live in anymore. Kids have so many electronic things to hold their attention, and keep them inside sitting on the couch. As well, there are more safety concerns about children playing unsupervised outside.
So it’s no wonder that children don’t always get the exercise needed to burn off calories. And sometimes that means that kids can get overweight. And then what happens when a child gets overweight, is that it becomes more uncomfortable for them to be active, leading to even less exercise. It can mean a downward spiral of weight gain that can get out of control quickly.
Kids like having routine, as much as they may tell you otherwise, and a child who gets onto a routine of exercise and a certain way of eating will adapt to it really quickly, much more quickly than an adult would. It’s just that initial hurdle of knowing how to change their lifestyle and getting them accustomed to it.
Though it may seem like a drastic step, for kids, weight loss camps can be a great way to kick start a new lifestyle of health. If approached in the right way, a child could be excited about spending a few weeks at a fun place, with lots of activities that they like.
At kids weight loss camps, children can learn lots of helpful ways to lose weight and have fun doing it, and they’ll be able to bring that knowledge home and maybe even educate their parents!
